Gone High Tech

March 2nd, 2009

Since I had my first mobile phone way back in 1999, I never had an interest to quickly upgrade to the latest model or get the fanciest phone once its out in the market or simply change the standard ringtones to the custom, downloadable ones.   These days, there are tons of choices out there when it comes to phone model, colors (shape or sizes!) and yes, even with ringtones.  From rock, pop to Christian Ringtones, the choices are endless!  There are paid ones and freebies, too.

There are many businesses that spurt like mushrooms in the advent of new mobile phone technologies.  And change especially with technology is always good.

Fearless Forecast

March 2nd, 2009

With the bitter state of our economy these days, it is sad to see a lot of shops closing down or offering huge discounts just to dispose off their merchandise.  The first ones to go are those selling luxury items such as jewelry, cars or hobby shops.  Maybe those intending to get married, for example, put off buying engagement rings to give way to more important wedding expenses.

I do hope that the fearless forecast of some economists that things will rebound by end of this year or early 2010 will come true.  It would be nice to see people go back to their normal spending habits especially when it comes to essential things like food and other basic stuff.

Bad, Bad Customer Service

March 2nd, 2009

My husband and I subscribed to two different mobile service providers.  Which right now I’m regretting because first, his provider has an ongoing “best family cell phone plan” promotion that lets you save on call charges.  Second, my service provider, for two billings in a row, charged me twice my usual monthly payment and I had to make calls to them to request for clarification.

During my last inquiry with them, I was put on hold for over 5 minutes that I had to bear with the “irritating” automated voice on the other end of the line.  5 minutes seems short but when you are unsure whether your call is being attended to or not, it’s tantamount to waiting for an hour!

Little things like these can make me re-think of my decision making skills.  Sigh.
