We are thinking about the possibility of going on a U.S. vacation instead of our usual holidays spent in our home country.  Our kids are big enough to travel and best of all, to enjoy the sights especially in Disneyland or Universal Studios.  Maybe we could visit the East Coast or spend a few days for an Orlando vacation.  Anything is possible at this point.  We shall see.

A friend of mine shared an online job portal for moms a few weeks back.  It covers a wide scope of jobs ranging from marketing, information technology to healthcare jobs.  What I like about the site is that it also has jobs ads with work from home arrangements, to be specific, it’s work from home and part time arrangements.  It sounds so perfect for me since I don’t intend to work full time in the near future.  But, we’ll see how it goes.  It is good to know that there is this resource that I can easily check out if I want to start working again.

I should be able to start packing away our thick sweaters and winter blankets as the weather these days have become much warmer.  I bought boxes of vacuum seal bags which were on sale during winter time, and they should be enough to fit all of those stuff that I need to temporarily put away.  And this also means that I have to go back to more ironing duties since we can no longer cover creases on our shirts with sweaters.

One more thing that my daughter looks forward to do in our neighborhood is to play in our neighbor’s trampoline and wood swing set.  Whenever we pass by their house, which is right smack at our villa’s entrance, she’d say that she want to play on the swing and slide.  So far, we haven’t had a weekend where we’re not busy but hopefully the coming weekends will be more relaxing.

We had a rainy start of the week here in Sydney but we’re looking forward to a dry and sunny weekend!  We’re planning an afternoon trip to the nearby park so our eldest daughter can practice riding a bike (and she’s been looking forward to that since early Winter) and our little boy can start using his trike.  With these mini-rides, we don’t need to worry about thule roof racks just yet.

I finally received the CD containing photos of my son’s first birthday celebration.  When I breezed through the album, there’s this one photo of me and my son and my noticeably big arms.  It is so big, it looks as if I’m taking muscle building supplements.  No kidding.  It must be because of all the baby lifting and non-stop house chores that made me look like a weight lifter.

As soon as I’m 100% done with unpacking, I’ll start work on my mini-project.  It involves creating personalized note cards, gift tags and greeting cards for the coming Christmas season.  I plan to use my new digital scrapping kits collection and family pics.  I’m quite excited about it that I’ve started checking for photo papers and stationery to use when we where at the mall today.  I hope this works out.

One weekend, I was at my current favorite fresh grocer’s and quickly completed my shopping list when all my time saved was spent on a long queue at the cashier’s counter.  According to the staff, their POS system was down and it affected many stores within the shopping centre.  I wished I could put back everything I took from the shelves and leave but I didn’t have a choice then but to wait.  It was a dreaded moment since I had many errands to finish that day.

It never happened to me before and I hope it never will again.  I can’t imagine the horror of having to wait long and starving at a restaurant to be seated, then served and to wait some more for payment to be processed all because the restaurant POS systems were down.  No dessert would ever make up for that.  And that for sure would make a really mean, horror story.

When I was still working, I disliked having to spend a lot of money on wardrobes.  Apart from the freedom that I had to choose the color and style I wanted for the day, it was a big downer that I had to have a decent collection of work clothes that I mixed and matched.  Otherwise, it would have seemed like I came up with some sort of work uniform I wear on schedule.

That’s where those who work in the medical field, for example, have the benefit of free hospital uniforms.  They can wear shirts or any comfortable outfit to work and put on a hospital uniform that is supplied to them.  If I’m not wrong, it is even washed and pressed for them by the hospital. Lucky, aren’t they?  And that leaves say, doctors to worry about their patients and/or research work day to day since their scrub sets (who knows even their shoes?) are all taken care of.

Our trusty almost 3-year old car is due for maintenance.  It is my husband’s task to bring it to the shop each time and I’m not complaining.  I’m never really interested with car mechanisms, head gaskets or wheels and usually car shops here or even Los Angeles auto repair shops do not usually have comfortable lounges or cafes for long waits.  Although I don’t know these days if some repair shops have very comfortable, fully-airconditioned rooms and with free wifi to boot.

But what I do know is that we’re not paying high maintenance/check-up fees for our car compared to car brands such as Honda Civic.  That’s why even if our first car of choice was a Honda, we factored in future maintenance requirements and settled for the car that we have now.  So far, we never had engine troubles or any risky car issues and we hope that it stays that way until we decide to replace it.
